The situation

Blueworkz Ltd set out to build an asset register that somebody standing in a van or a store could keep up to date on the phone already in their pocket, with no hardware to buy and nothing to install.

What we did

Asset Giant is a web application, with the tracking written as its own code rather than assembled out of off-the-shelf parts. Three things had to be true before anyone would keep using it:

  • The typing had to go. Point a phone at an item and the software names it and fills in the make, model, category and specifications. The person checks it and saves.
  • The labels had to be free. QR labels print on ordinary sticker sheets, in your own layout and with your own logo, so there is no scanner and no label printer to buy.
  • Anyone had to be able to use it. Scanning a label shows the item and lets somebody take it out, bring it back or move it. Locations update themselves.

Each account also has an assistant that reads that account's own records and answers questions about them in plain English. Existing kit lists come in as a CSV file, with a full preview before anything is saved. The free plan is the real product with lower limits rather than a trial: a hundred assets, no card, and no countdown.

What it does

Everything about an item is in one record. Its photograph, make, model, category, specifications, status, location, warranty date and any fields you add yourself — with the whole history against it, so every movement, check-in and change has a who and a when.

A label designer, not just a QR generator. The common sticker-sheet formats are built in, you choose what goes in the header, the body and the footer of each label, a layout can be saved and used again, and a whole shelf prints as one PDF.

Locations that keep themselves current. A van, a lock-up or a site office is a record of its own, with an address, a photograph, its own QR code and a live list of what is in it. Scanning something into it is what updates it.

A booking calendar. Kit scheduled against jobs by day, week or month, tentative through to completed, whole kits booked in one go, and calendar feeds so the bookings appear wherever the team already looks.

Clients, projects and jobs. Kit is assigned to the job it is out on, so "where is it and who has it" has one answer.

Filtering that survives a real inventory. By location, folder, manufacturer, category, status, type or a custom field of your own — with bulk actions applied to whatever the filter leaves.

Ask it a question. The assistant answers from that account's own records — what editing kit is free this week, what is out for testing — in plain English.

What changed

Asset Giant opened to the public in June 2026, after about eight months of building.
